01 · A War Far Away Is Affecting Your Gift

When the United States gets involved in Middle East conflicts through sanctions on Iran, military pressure on Gulf states, or ongoing regional instability it shakes up global oil supplies. The Middle East produces about one-third of the world's oil. Any serious tension there sends crude oil prices climbing.

Now here is the part most people do not know. The materials we use every single day acrylic sheets and MDF are both connected to oil prices. Acrylic is directly manufactured from petrochemicals. MDF uses adhesive resins like urea-formaldehyde, which also come from the same petrochemical supply chain. When oil gets expensive, both get expensive at the same time.

02 · How It Hits Us Directly

Acrylic sheets and MDF are the backbone of almost everything we make at Osmly LED name plates, Spotify plaques, desk décor, wooden stands, and UV-printed personalised gifts. We manufacture everything in-house, from design and engraving to printing and packaging. That means when raw material prices rise, we feel it directly in our cost sheet with no middleman to share the burden.

In early 2026, major Indian petrochemical producers including BPCL temporarily shut down their acrylic acid units due to upstream supply shortages a direct result of Gulf tensions. MMA monomer prices, the key ingredient in acrylic, rose by 15 to 22 percent across Asian markets in early 2025 alone. India imports nearly 45 percent of its petrochemical inputs, making us particularly vulnerable to global price shocks.

For a small, in-house manufacturer like us, there is no buffer. Every rupee increase in raw material costs lands straight on our workbench.

03 · It Is Not Just Acrylic and MDF

Rising oil prices do not stop at raw materials. They quietly raise the cost of everything around them too. Freight charges go up because trucks and cargo ships run on fuel. Red Sea shipping disruptions caused by conflict spillover in Yemen have added delays and surcharges on imports from the Gulf and Europe. UV printing inks, packaging foam, courier costs all carry a hidden fuel surcharge. Everything gets more expensive together, and it happens gradually enough that most people never notice until it shows up on an invoice.

04 · What We Are Doing About It

We are working hard so that you do not have to worry about any of this. Here is exactly what we are doing:

We are building stronger relationships with local and domestic raw material suppliers to reduce dependence on imports. We are optimising how we cut and use acrylic and MDF sheets during production to reduce waste. We are exploring recycled and alternative material options wherever quality allows. We are stocking up on inventory during price dips so we can protect your order costs during sudden spikes.

Most importantly, we are absorbing as much of this pressure as we can internally before it ever reaches your cart.
